The Liberty Belle

The Liberty Belle

DeKeratry Custom Homes remodeled a historic building with beautiful results.

Project

This project started out as a remodel of an old, historic building in “Old Town” Liberty Hill. The building was built around 1904. We came in and gutted the building and made it modern, yet attempted to keep the “old town”, historic feel. We used wood floors and wood ceilings, similar to what was originally in the building. We wanted the feel of walking into a building in the early 1900’s office. We also removed the old, porous painted brick and brought in used “Old Chicago” brick. We added an awning with handmade brackets to get that old, downtown look.

From there, we did a completely new addition in the back of the building. We need more office space, but wanted to keep that old town/small town look. We added a two story building with the downstairs being additional office space and upstairs being a residential loft. On the interior, both up and down, we incorporated the same “Old Chicago” brick on accent walls, but a nice light modern feel. On the exterior we connected the buildings together with the same brick on the front of the new building in the back, as well as the farmhouse feel with metal siding and board & batten siding and a metal roof.

Overall, we feel like we accomplished keep the old, downtown, main street type feel, all while updating and modernizing the old property, as well as the new construction.

Cedar Park Multi-Family

Cedar Park Custom Duplex

DeKeratry Custom Homes built this very custom, large duplex for a repeat client.

Vision

We built a custom home for our client many years ago in Austin. They were so happy with the quality of home after many years, they asked us to build them a unique investment property on duplex zoned lot, which we found for them. A duplex that would be large enough to generate a great return and retirement income, with a quality built duplex, that felt like a custom home, and would require little maintenance in the years to come.

Details

We worked hand and hand with a designer, developing the perfect floor plan for a tenant which would provide privacy and useful space. The floor plan evolved into a very comfortable 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2 living spaces and 2 car oversize garage unit on each side. Nice size back yard space with privacy walls dividing the yard and incorporating the existing trees, made for a beautiful setting.

Results

In the end, the property turned out to be a “home” anyone would love to live. Far from your typical “duplex”, the property is investor friendly, as well as tenant friendly, with warm colors and the feel of privacy. You would not know you were living in a multi-family property.

Railroad Oaks – First of Three Homes

Railroad Oaks – First of Three Homes

Railroad Oaks is a three lot project that is in process near the “Old Town” area of Georgetown, with the first house being complete.

4 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, 3031 Sq. Ft., Built in 2018, .27 acres
$685,000
Tour the house

Details

The first home is a 3,031 square foot home, built on the corner lot and has a beautiful “Farm House Modern” design. We tried to fit new construction into an older area of Georgetown which is rich with charming homes from the early to mid-1900’s. This was accomplished using the board and batten siding, as well as stucco and stone on the exterior. We utilized an existing driveway location for a detached garage, thus leaving the front of the house without a front view of the garage door. The lot has great depth and we took advantage of that for a large screen porch and beautiful landscaping. Due to city requirements, we were unable to add additional driveway space for the circular driveway in the front of the home. However, using a new product on the market, we were able to capture a driveway and additional temporary parking with a grass paver product that allows for this parking and driving. At first glance, all you see is a front yard with sod, but it is actually a circular driveway, allowing for the additional access to the front.

The inside captures the modern new look with gray tones, wood style ceramic tile, four full bathrooms and one half bath room. Four bedrooms, game room and large open kitchen, dining and living areas. Nice size utility room and awesome screened in porch. Upstairs has game room/TV room plus two large bedrooms, one with a private bathroom, basically giving the option of an upstairs OR downstairs master bedroom. Beautiful finish out with many upgrades that create a fantastic and comfortable, as well as functional home.

With easy access to IH-35, as well as the Square in Historic Georgetown, this one-of-a-kind home is a perfect fit for the buyer wanting modern day conveniences and living in a quaint community.

Railroad Oaks Homes

We have contracted with architect Jim Dunaway of Austin, who has been designing homes in Hyde Park and Tarrytown area of Austin. Jim is not new to Georgetown. He and his family lived in Georgetown while his wife taught at Southwestern University a few years ago. He is well acquainted with the lifestyle and homes in this beautiful town.

DeKeratry Homes will build these three beautiful homes. Henry is not new to Georgetown, and has built many fine homes in the Texas Hill Country and Austin area.

We will build one at a time, paying attention to every detail to produce the best in construcion and design. All three will reflect the contemporary design and will be using modern techniques and materials. We like homes with ample spaces filled with natural light. Glass, large windows and doors will be an integral part of these homes. And natural wood and stone will be exposed inside and outside of these three gems.

Grand Mesa at Crystal Falls – Golf Course Estate

Spanish Colonial estate home on Crystal Falls Golf Course.

DeKeratry Custom Homes built this amazing home as a speculative home on the Crystal Falls Golf Course in Grand Mesa at Crystal Falls.

Vision

I always wanted to build a home that would reflect my desires and experiences, without the restrictions normally imposed by regulations in certain developments.  I have always admired Grand Mesa at Crystal Falls because the developers allowed a variety of builders instead of being totally dominated by the large volume builders.  I found a great lot backing up to the golf course and with a gentle slope backwards from the main street.  Also, surrounded by large beautiful homes

After I acquired this lot, I contacted a good friend, architectural designer, to help me design a home that would allow for the best views of the golf course and at the same time design the house to maximize a shady back porch.  We achieved this and therefore designed a huge back covered porch that lies totally in the afternoon shade.  I put a lot of emphasis on this feature because I know how the hot Texas sun can prevent one from enjoying a home due to excess heat at your back yard.

Results

So this was one item feature I truly wanted to have built in this home.  I also built the back porch with a lot of gusto, tiled floor, exposed wooden beams, colonnade with wrought iron railing and a view to be desired.  Specially designed to have a pool, gardens and playgrounds, which the buyers built.

The house is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever built.  Spacious, a Spanish Colonial theme. The best of materials and workmanship went in to complete this home.  I took a lot of pleasure in finding just the right accent fixtures to complement this home.  I bought one particular bath vanity from the “Treasury” at the Oasis which complimented the guest bath.  These are things that I like to do whether it is for a customer or for a speculative home.  Builder’s take pride when they build a home.  I especial do because I know that after we are gone we leave a legacy in stone.

I hope you enjoy seeing the photos on our website of this home and many others I have built.

Waterfront Castle Home

Lakeside mansion inspired by European castles and modern amenities.

DeKeratry Custom Homes built Houston-based client the home of their dreams on Lake Travis. Complete with main home, guest house, custom pool, detached garage, and beautiful views of an Austin-area lake.

Vision

I was in my office in Cedar Park one day when a very nice gentleman and his lovely wife entered, without me knowing or having an appointment, we met and I liked them right away. This man was wearing farmer’s overalls. He was carrying a huge roll of house plans. His wife, a simple lady with no looks of sophistication and superiority was fairly quiet and tolerant to his questions to me.

The man asked me if I would be interested in building them a Castle. I said, you mean a home that would be your castle or a real castle? He replied, well, both; we were in Europe and loved the way a real castle looks like. I immediately thought this is one of those cases when someone asks for things they could never afford. But, I was wrong. I have always been taught that I should hear the desires of all people at least during the first meeting. So I sat there and listen to their explanations and desires to build a Real Castle, like those in Europe but off course with all the modern conveniences.

They rolled out the huge roll of their castle plans. I could see that they had already spent a fortune with a very professional architect that had designed for them the Castle of their dreams. As I learned more about this particular client, I begin to believe that they were completely capable of building whatever they wanted to build at any price. Later I found out he was a very successful trial attorney from Houston. I listened to the rest of their desires.

They already had purchased several acres on Lake Travis. A peninsula with the best view of the lake I had ever seen with deep water all around. We looked at the plans which had at least 20 detailed pages of their dream Castle.
Without hesitation I agreed to be their builder with a desire to build them this magnificent castle with all the details they wanted and even more. They wanted to see some homes that I had built so they can get a better feel of my capabilities to build this for them. After they had seen only one home which was the closest large home with some similar details to what they wanted, they told me if I accepted to be their builder I could have the job.

Results

We built the Castle on their land. It took us nearly two years to build it, but was the most delightful two years I had spent in my career to accomplish and complete the castle of their dreams. I was very sad that we had come to the end. But very happy for that they had the Castle of their dreams.

Texas Modern Custom Home

Texas Modern Custom Home showcases the best quality and unique project on a budget

Texas Modern Custom Home in the Heart of Cedar Park

DeKeratry Custom Homes designed, planned, and constructed a lovely Texas modern home in an established Central Texas suburb. This 3,300 sq ft custom-built house graces a corner lot in the middle of Cedar Park, Texas.

Vision

The clients envisioned an updated ranch-style home with modern amenities. The couple planned a healthy combination of a rustic Texas-style and many up-to-date features. They also wanted to preserve the landscape and trees on a prominent neighborhood corner. After reviewing several site plans, the clients ultimately settled on a final design and interior décor that matched their style and budget.

Details

The details were amazing. The semi-circle driveway and manicured lawn welcomes the visitor to a prominent, though not-too-imposing front door. From there the visitor, enters on wood floors and spies a see-through fireplace visible from 3 rooms. The kitchen features a butcher-block island with exposed 100-year old timber beams throughout the home. The custom garage houses two cars with a 3rd carport-converted into a media room.

Results

The entire process took 18 months to plan, build, and complete from initial concept to move-in. The main reason why it took longer than anticipated was the custom plans went through several iterations. The actual construction was 8-months. (In general, a custom home of similar size and quality will take 3-6 months to build.) But ultimately, the clients are extremely happy in their brand new custom home and neighborhood. They intend to raise their family in this beautiful, Texas Modern custom home.

North Lake Travis Ranch Home

Beautiful Central Texas ranch estate on Lake Travis

DeKeratry Custom Homes built this gorgeous home on Lake Travis. Situated on 110 acres of pristine lake property, the 2800 sq ft main house enjoys one of the best views of the area.

Vision

We met with the client because of a unique situation. They found a beautiful lot, but needed a home to fit the ranch and their tastes. They wanted a distinctive, Texas-style home for their family on the north shores of Lake Travis. We surveyed the spread for an optimal location for the home with the best views, a serene outdoor living area, a perfectly situated pool, and room for the horses.

Details

With exposed, open trusses, rustic stone accents, tiled outdoor living area with a peek-a-boo view of the lake, the results were astounding. The details in the covered patio, entrance gate, outdoor stone fireplace, and rustic kitchen all make a matchless Texas living experience. The scenery and home were so impressive it compelled one movie director to choose this ranch location for filming.

Results

The entire project took 12 months to complete. From initial consultation, to move-in, DeKeratry Custom Homes guided the client through every step of the process. And the client loved the result. After 15+ years, the client is still enjoying their Central Texas lake views, home, and evening horseback rides.
